Messages from Sendai is a series of regular frontline reports brought to you from Japan, in the aftermath of its worst ever earthquake and tsunami.

Contributors to this ucanews.com blog include:

  • Jean-Joseph Christophe, a French PhD who had just completed his studies in Sendai when the disaster struck. Instead of returning home to France, he decided to stay and work as a volunteer with Caritas.
  • William Grimm, publisher of ucanews.com and  a Maryknoll priest who has lived and worked in Japan for 38 years.
  • Jody Magtoto SJ, a Jesuit scholastic of the Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus was about to travel to Japan on an exposure trip when the earthquake struck. He arrived in Japan on March 27 and his provincial superior gave him permission to help in the badly hit city of Kamaishi.
